Inside Thailand
Mac Bakewell visited Anacapa again this year to talk about a summer program that he runs in Thailand. The program, called “Inside Thailand,” immerses its participants in rural Thailand, as participants teach English classes. The group also visits national and cultural monuments, goes bike riding, feeds elephants and attends festivals in the Thailand villages. Mac’s own daughter has been attending the trips since she was four! The program recruits participants from all over the world, but always maintains a small group size of 8 people or less. The only requirements are that you speak fluent English, are in grades 9-12, love kids and of course, are open to new experiences.
Student Response: “Mac Bakewell of Inside Thailand really influenced me to think about how much you can do for the world while getting to go to amazing places. I have always loved traveling, and when I heard about an opportunity to go to Thailand, I was so excited that I went home right away and called up all my family to tell them about this great experience I had just learned about. I am now in the process of filling out the papers, and I am still trying to get funding for this trip, but I think it will happen, and I am very pleased with the thought of going to Thailand.” – H.
