Beatrix Ost – About Life

Beatrix Ost, author, filmmaker and Anacapa grandparent, visited Breakfast Club to discuss her experiences in life. Beatrix grew up in Germany during World War II, which she credits as a boost to her own creativity. “There was nothing to be bought,” explained Beatrix, meaning that everything was either found, created or invented. Beatrix decided at 65 years old to become an author. She took 2 ½ years to write her first book, a story about her family in war-torn Germany, which soon became a bestseller in Germany. Now, she is producing a movie in the United States, also about her childhood. The moral of her story, says Beatrix, is that its never too late to do something new or be something new. As she told Anacapa students, “There is no I can’t, just do it if you want to.”
