Know When to Fold ‘Em
Origami is a new club offering this fall at Anacapa. Origami (from ori meaning “folding” and kami meaning “paper”) is the traditional Japanese art of paper folding, which started in the 17th century A.D. It has since then evolved into a modern art form. The goal of this art is to transform a flat sheet of paper into a finished sculpture through folding and sculpting techniques.
Lead by Lanny Sherwin (father of Alec, grade 10) participants are learning basic folding techniques and progressing from beginner models to intermediate. Here is a great video from Lanny about where origami is going.
