Spring Sampler Alumni Panel
An Anacapa Alumni Panel was held in May in conjunction with an “Anacapa Sampler” open house. The alumni panel was led by Dillon Yuhasz (2009), who is now a full-time Anacapa faculty member. Four recent graduates shared the role Anacapa played in their formative years and how Anacapa prepared them to excel at the college level. Elizabeth Schwyzer is Married at the Peak
On April 27, 2014, Elizabeth Schwyzer (Class of 1997) and Steve Smith ran up Gibraltar Road, and got married in the rocks near La Cumbre Peak. One week later, they celebrated their marriage with a big party at Godric Grove. This July, Elizabeth and Steve will be relocating to the Bay Area, where Steve will join the psychology faculty of Palo Alto University, and Elizabeth will continue to write, teach, and coach writers. Wishiah Roper, alumna from the class of 2011, visited Elliott Hall to share her life journey and how Anacapa has affected her. Wishiah came to Anacapa in 9th grade with some anger and attitude in tow. Wishiah explained how helped her to mature into a much happier, more productive person. Riley Arntz – The Life of a Fashionisto Cowboy
Riley Arntz, an original member of the Anacapa Adobes, came to Anacapa for high school in 2003. In college he studied hospitality but wasn’t excited about the field for a career. Instead, he tried his luck as a ranch hand at Lazy B Ranch in New Mexico, where he learned a variety of skills, such as roping and branding, along with some tough life lessons such as “sometimes its best not to argue and just get the work done.” After … Read more

After graduating from Anacapa in 2001, Jennifer Sites Poulimenos earned a B.S. in Nursing. She was back on campus in October with her new baby girl Kalla. Kalla was born September 14, 2013. Jennifer and her new family live in Kitchener, Ontario.
Henry Johnston – Anacapa Alumni in the World
Henry Johnston, recent Anacapa graduate from the class of 2013, is currently a student at Brooks Institute in Ventura where he is studying film. Haley Yuhasz, Anacapa alumna extraordinaire from the class of 2012, returned to Elloitt Hall to reflect on her experiences while at Anacapa and how they have affected her life in college. Haley is now a sophomore at Northern Arizona University, majoring in Visual Communications with an emphasis in Graphic Design and a minor in Theater. Elizabeth Schwyzer, Anacapa alumna from the class of ‘97, spoke about the source of both passion and her livelihood, writing. Elizabeth currently works for the Santa Barbara Independent as a reviewer for arts and dance, but her true love is working with teens on their writing. Elizabeth specializes in personal statements for college and recognizes that while they may be annoying, they are a great opportunity to reflect on who you are and what’s important to you. Anacapa alumna and Cal State Channel Islands student Brenda Renteria performed an original rap song to the tune of MC Hammer’s “Can’t Touch This” in an effort to encourage students to be thoughtful about the food that they eat.
