Two Anacapa Students are Finalists in Architecture Competition

The annual Santa Barbara County High School Architectural Design Competition at Santa Ynez High School took place the week of March 19, and on Saturday the 24th, Ancapa’s own Genevieve and Heather competed as finalists against several other area high school students. Synthesis Unit: Food – You Are What You Eat

Students paired hands on knowledge with critical thinking skills in the exciting conclusion to Anacapa’s annual synthesis unit. After the conclusion of the guest lecture’s presentations, this year’s unit on food culminated in all-school field trips to locations that illustrated the many aspects of local agricultural industry.

Fundraiser’s space theme commemorates student-built near space probe

March 2, 2012 — Santa Barbara, Calif.

Anacapa School will host The 28th Annual Anacapa School Auction: “Out of This World” on campus Sunday, March 11 from 12:30-5:00 p.m. The family event will feature about 300 items ranging from clothing, art and luxury items to gift certificates for food, entertainment and travel.

As a follow-up to our recent Synthesis Unit, Food: You are What You Eat, Anacapa left after morning classes on Wednesday, February 15, 2012, to visit the renowned Roots Organic Farm in Los Olivos. For Nutrition Break that morning, the school provided everyone with a big bowl of Jacob Grant’s famously sweet carrots, which had been purchased the day before from the Roots stand at the Tuesday Farmers Market. Patrick Alcerro Chosen as an SBIFF Filmmaking Finalist

Anacapa School junior Patrick Alcerro has been recognized for the second consecutive year as a finalist in the 2012 Santa Barbara International Film Festival’s (SBIFF) 10-10-10 Student Filmmaking Competition! The 10-10-10 competition is a student filmmaking competition developed to bring together student filmmakers and industry professionals in an effort to encourage and assist a new generation of filmmakers. Anacapa Seniors Douglas Throop and Gazal Homayouni took home Best Speaker Gavel awards at the Junior State of America’s Fall State debate conference on November 13, 2011 in Los Angeles.  The school sent a delegation of 14 students to the conference this year. Performing Arts Class Puts On “Spelling Bee”

The Anacapa School Performing Arts class presented “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” for their Spring 2011 production.  This Tony Award-winning play explores overachieving spellers as they battle for the championship of the local spelling competition.  Students had a great time designing their costumes to help them portray their quirky characters and learned to spell some very difficult words.  Volunteer spellers form the audience were even called up to try their hand at spelling!  It was a great production … Read more


Graduation isn’t just for the seniors – it’s a celebration for the entire school!
